UPDATED: final Infographic

Finally got my audio mixed for my infographic, and fixed up the pacing of some of the scenes. Definitely much better with sound!

Final Project: Interactive TV Final (Form 1)

Image
My final project for motion graphics! It's a little sad because I didn't get to highlight as many movies I wanted, and ideally I want to make two more linked videos that reel through my favorite animated TV shows and animated music videos, but I ran out of time! I'll continue to work on them up until the last day grades are due though because this project was exciting for me and I want to be able to immerse myself into my favorite animations in my own way through my motion graphics.

Final Project: Interactive TV Draft 1

So, I completely changed my idea. I just had quite a few ideas that I needed to accept were too ambitious to try and make under a deadline. Instead, I decided to make an interactive TV for my portfolio website. Not only does the TV act as a legitimate example of my motion graphics' work, but it serves as a vessel to highlight some of my favorite movies. Of course, I expected to have at least four movies in the TV reel, but rendering became an issue after I began connecting together just the two clips into a channel-change effect. I hope to later on figure out how to subcategorize the movies, and allow the users on my website the control to change the channel themselves. 8-bit tutorial I followed (and need to tinker with so it's more visible on the videos when they're resized in the TV): Create 8 Bit Pixel Art

Final Project: Tutorial + Updated Storyboard

The tutorial I decided to follow was an infinite zoom effect. I want to expand on this technique and create a zooming effect between several landscapes. My original idea was to create an animated clip for a song, but I might be more interested in creating something more complex visually, and hopefully fun to draw up some landscapes by hand. My goal is to create a series of landscapes from a movie and create a consistent zoom effect as it passes through every scene. What I'm most interested in exploring is creating several moving parts within each landscape: clouds floating by, flags blowing in the wind, birds flying, things of that nature. My audio would be a monologue or quote clipped from the movie that fits to either 30 seconds or a minute. I'm deciding between Kiki's Delivery Service or Ratatouille.     The tutorial I followed is listed in the description of my Youtube Video!

Final Project: Storyboard + Inspiration

My main idea for my final project is to fully absorb the things I've learned and make a fully fleshed out story through my motion graphic. Since music-related design is something I'm most passionate about, I want to make my final reel based on a song and create a story that relates to the lyrics. I also want to work with illustrating my own imagery, since I also enjoy making digital art and I think the design would benefit from having the real texture from digital brushes. I have yet to pick a song because I need to find or edit a really good 30 to 45 second clip to create imagery from. I want to work with something more ethereal so I can focus on a beautiful scenery with water, rolling hills, wispy trees, and soft clouds. I have been looking on Youtube for visual inspiration and Ed suggested I share some here, so please check out some of these graphics from working designers if you think it'll spark any ideas for your own final project! PSA: Final (Version 1)

Here's the "final" version of my PSA. It's missing the last 10 seconds so I definitely need to finish it up, but I like the aesthetic choices I've made so far!
